Bin Fairy

It’s easy to let things build up and get out of hand. We brought each item into our homes for a reason, right? They represent love, loss, intent, hope, memories, and so much more.
But, when holding onto these things starts to have a negative impact on our life, it’s time to think about how much of it is really serving its purpose.
As a late diagnosed neurodiverse adult, I’ve definitely had times where clutter has taken over, and it was hard to see how this was affecting my mental health, creating a vicious cycle. It got so much at times, that I had to make a choice: do the feelings attached to these things I don’t need matter, or do I matter?
Do you own your things, or do they own you?

After spending the last five years working for a local mental health charity coaching adults with complex needs, I found myself unsing my knowledge to spend time with friends and acquaintances while they declutter their homes.
One such friend, when I was disposing of items so she didn’t need to dubbed me her bin fairy, and so, Wellington Fairy was born.
I offer gentle encouragement and realistic goal setting, reassuring them and asking the right questions about their clutter to help them let go.
It’s easy to procrastinate, but once you start questioning why you’re doing so, with kindness and compassion, your mindset around clutter will change for good.
